Collaborative live painting @ EXIT Las Vegas

painting

Here’s a piece that Kmndz (www.kmndz.com), Ekundayo (www.ekundayo.com) and Myself got down on at EXIT (www.exitconcerts.com) in Las Vegas.

EXIT is a free concert series that is comprised of people like Sonny from P.O.D. and Brian “HEAD” Welch from KoRn. Just a bunch of cool peeps spreading the love in the name of the Lord.

“Man was designed intentionally with a spiritual emptiness, or a hole in his heart. Man is also given free will, the option to fill his heart with anything of his choosing. Whatever man imposes in his heart, the void will never be entirely concealed.

Jesus Christ is the only shape that will suit.”

“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 16:26

Finished!!!

This has been done for a little while now but I finally got the image off my digital camera.

The evolution of a commission

I thought I’d share a little bit of my process with you all. I started this painting at a very odd time in my life. I was feeling very unsure about my work and the direction I was heading. I just wasn’t happy with anything I was painting. So this painting has gone though some insanity. First off I did about 50 different sketches before I nailed it down to this. And then I repainted this whole canvas about 4 or 5 times. I spent about 500 hours on this thing, for serious… CRAZY!

The painting itself is roughly 18″ x 48″ acrylic on canvas. Its a commission for a VP at Atlantic Records.

Check out the progression:

Gallery Bottle Rocket is ALIVE!!!

Hey there everyone! Saturday July 11th was a pretty exciting day for me as it marked the launch of my new Gallery and Studio. The Opening was a huge success! We had a lot of people come through and everyone seemed to be really excited about what we’re bringing to the table. I created a 2ft x 4ft live painting piece that was raffled off at the end of the show. It was a lot of fun!!!

I’ll post pictures from the opening as I get them, but for now, here’s some photos I shot of the Gallery as it looks now. Complete in a, “We’re finally open!” sense, but far from complete in terms of my vision of the space.

Have a gander!
